Diamond Bangles & Bracelets Guide — Styles, Sizing & What to Check

A complete guide to diamond bangles and bracelets — oval bangles, kada, chain and open bracelets — how to size a rigid bangle correctly, and what to check before buying.

Diamond bangles and bracelets occupy a different place in Indian jewellery than rings or earrings — they're statement pieces, often worn stacked, and central to bridal and festive dressing. This guide covers the styles Inasha Diamonds offers and what to know before buying.

Diamond Bangle and Bracelet Styles

Oval Bangles

A rigid, oval-shaped bangle set with diamonds, typically worn as a single statement piece or in a stack of two or three. Oval bangles sit close to the wrist and work well for both traditional and contemporary outfits.

Kada (Round Cut Bracelet)

A kada is a broader, more substantial bangle style rooted in Indian jewellery tradition — typically a rounder, wider profile than a slim oval bangle. Diamond-set kadas bring a traditional silhouette into contemporary fine jewellery, often chosen for weddings and festive occasions.

Chain and Link Bracelets

Diamond-set chain bracelets offer a lighter, more flexible fit than rigid bangles, and are generally easier to wear daily. Open bracelets — a rigid band with a gap rather than a full circle — slide onto the wrist without needing a clasp.

Tennis Bracelets

A continuous line of individually set diamonds forming a flexible chain. We cover tennis bracelets in detail, including carat weights and pricing, in our dedicated Tennis Bracelet Guide.

Choosing the Right Size

Bangles are rigid and must fit over the widest part of your hand (across the knuckles) to be worn at all, unlike bracelets with clasps or flexible links, which fit around the wrist itself. This is the most common bangle-buying mistake: measuring wrist circumference instead of hand span. Before ordering, measure across your knuckles with your thumb tucked in (the position your hand takes when sliding a bangle on), not around your wrist bone.

Chain bracelets and open bracelets are more forgiving, since flexible links accommodate a small range of sizes and open designs simply widen slightly to slide on.

Choosing Carat Weight and Metal

Bangle and bracelet carat weights are typically higher than rings or single earrings, since the diamonds are spread across a larger continuous surface. A modest-looking diamond bangle can carry a meaningfully higher total carat weight than it visually suggests, since the stones are smaller individually but numerous.

18K gold and 950 platinum are the more durable choices for a piece worn daily and subject to knocks against hard surfaces — a common source of wear for bangles specifically, more than for rings or earrings. 9K and 14K gold remain solid choices for special-occasion pieces worn less frequently.

What to Check Before Buying

The same fundamentals apply as with any lab-grown diamond purchase: independent IGI or GLI certification for every diamond, BIS Hallmark certification for the gold or platinum, and a clear return policy. For a piece with many individual diamonds, ask whether the certification covers the diamonds collectively or whether a summary specification is provided — Inasha Diamonds provides full specification documentation with every bangle and bracelet.

Caring for Diamond Bangles and Bracelets

Bangles are more prone to surface scratches and knocks than rings or earrings, simply from daily contact with hard surfaces — desks, doorframes, countertops. Remove bangles before manual work, gym sessions, and household chores involving hard surface contact. Clean using the same warm water and mild soap method as other jewellery, with particular attention to the underside of the setting where multiple small stones can trap residue.
